The greatest story I've heard in weeks concerns Ginsu, a somewhat rotund, white miniature poodle, and a great battle only seen by two human witnesses (my mom and Isaac, my 2 and 1/2 year old nephew). Now for a little background information. Ginsu has two personalities: aloof poodle and snuggly aloof poodle. When the temperature cooperates, he tends toward the snuggly, but during the Summer, he prefers to be alone, lying under the coffee table or on the cool kitchen floor or on the living room air conditioning vent. If you love him too much, he will look at you out of the corner of his eye without moving, but with a somewhat bothered look on his face. His one weakness is food, and if you shake it in front of him while saying the magic words "Fishy, Fishy, Fishy", he will turn into a wild hunter, bouncing and attacking the bite. A cruel predator, he likes to pretend bite and run away and toss the biscuit or cheese into the air, prolonging the hunt like a Killer Whale tossing a seal. Ginsu is, in my opinion, one of the three greatest dogs ever. Gregory the great black lab (rest his doggy-sainted soul), Charlie the brown papapoo (a.k.a. Mr. Licks), and Ginsu the poodle (a.k.a. White Lightning) make up the trifecta.
And now for the battle history. Mom and Isaac (and Charlie, I believe) were relaxing on the couch while Ginsu rested atop the air conditioning vent, his usual Summer spot. Ginsu lay on his belly, and listened unconcernedly to the clink of his collar name tag against the metal vent. When he least expected it, the name tag slipped between two slats of the vent and turned, locking him tightly to the floor. Panicking, Ginsu found strength from within and pulled with all of his might. Mom and Isaac heard a great BANG! immediately followed by a series of smaller thuds, and saw Ginsu flash like white lightning around the living room, the large vent attached to his collar. Mom raced to his side to remove the vent, but he would not be tamed (for a few moments)! After he calmed down enough to sit still, she detached his collar from the vent and set poor Ginsu free. To this day (many days later), Ginsu does not lie on the air conditioning vent, but looks at it suspiciously. From what I hear, Isaac is still telling the story, and is the source from which this history originated.
So it has happened. So it has been written.
yay, blogger!! I always knew that Ginsu had secret strength reserves! It gives me hope for his health and future:)
