Yesterday I told a new coworker friend that I love my free time, and I love it to be so free that I have nothing to do other than sit on my couch and wallow in boredom. So this week, since I'm working evenings, I have all my free time in the mornings. Thank goodness for Regis & Kelly and Martha Stewart!
I also try to do one productive thing each day, and sometimes I succeed. This week I have gotten an oil change, had my brakes checked, renewed my license, grocery shopped (for me & for youth group), done laundry, refilled prescriptions, cooked a recipe from my new Patricia Cornwell cookbook, and slept in everyday. And I've even found time to blog and work out!!! There are only a couple of problems with working evenings...
The first is that no one is free when I am, and I miss all the fun after-work events, like our weekly girls' night in and youth group. The second is that my bosses seem to think that I can still come in during the day for stupid little work, that is really not a priority. I really should just not check my email...that would solve that at least.
I also find that I started out this schedule really pumped to get things done. Now I'm starting to feel lazier, and I find myself thinking 'I could just sleep a little longer...it really doesn't matter.' You can also substitute sleep for watch tv, and that's my life. I know the clothes are dry in the drier (from yesterday) and my prescriptions are filled at CVS (also from yesterday), so I could really get quite a bit of work done in relatively little time.
We'll see...my goal is to accomplish those two items and either work out or clean the bathroom. I'll let you know how that one works. And I may have just decided to clean the apartment...we'll see!
